Möbeldesignmuseum
ProjectThe furniture design museum IKEA acquired in 2024: 1,200+ pieces by 400+ designers.
What I built
The museum's site ran on Squarespace, and its sitemap listed 118 URLs. Leo Bülow, head of digital and branding, wanted it moved to Webflow so the museum could manage a collection of over a thousand objects.
I built it in Webflow in 2022, and it went live in early 2023. Every object, designer, exhibition and article is a CMS item with its own page. At launch the sitemap held 1,667 URLs, including 1,192 object pages and 420 designer pages.
The collections link to each other. An object page shows its designer, producer, year, country, materials and dimensions, then related objects. A designer page carries the biography, its sources, the designer's objects in the archive and related designers.
Leo wrote afterwards that "even the less tech-savvy employees of our organization can edit" it.
Details
- The furniture archive filters by type, decade (from 1870 and earlier through the 2020s), country and material, with a search box, using Finsweet's CMS Filter and CMS Load. Each group has its own clear button, and active filters show as tags you remove one at a time. The designer archive filters by country.
- Each page's title and meta description come from its CMS fields. Sven Markelius's page is titled "Designer Sven Markelius | Möbeldesignmuseum" and described as "Biography of the designer Sven Markelius, born 1889 in Sweden."
Results
- Live on the same Webflow build since early 2023. The sitemap listed 1,897 URLs in October 2026, up from 1,667 at launch.
